Emre Şen began playing the piano at the age of 13. He studied with Prof. Nimet Karatekin at the Hacettepe University State Conservatory, with Prof. Ersin Onay at the Bilkent University of Music and Performing Arts, with Marcella Crudeli in Rome, Oxana Yablonskaya in New York and with Kevin Kenner in London.
He finished his bachelor’s degree in music at the Eskişehir State Conservatory with an art prize awarded. He also received the “Diplome Superior de Concertiste” from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, obtaining first prize in chamber music and piano. He received his post graduate degree in Piano Performance from the Royal College of Music in London, winning the first prize in the Concerto department.
He won several international prizes including the International Piano Competition of Rome, 1995 and between the years 2006-2011, he worked as an instructor of piano at the Bilkent University of Music.
Following his studies in music, Emre Şen became interested in Gestalt Psychotherapy. He finished a three year course at the York Psychotherapy Training Institute. He developed a study under the name of Gestalt Approach to Music combining therapeutic methods, creative living and performance. He led Gestalt groups at the University of Bilkent for 2 years as elective courses.
Emre Şen is currently giving concerts and recitals in Turkey and abroad.
